Summary
SafeSend does not collect, sell, transmit, or share personal data. Text entered into SafeSend is processed locally in the user's browser. The extension does not send user text, names, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, card numbers, addresses, emails, or other redacted content to any server.
Information SafeSend processes
SafeSend processes text when the user provides text in the extension popup or types or pastes text into an eligible editor where inline controls are enabled. The extension performs a local detection check so it can indicate when sensitive information may be present. Text is changed only when the user clicks the SafeSend control. All processing happens locally in the browser extension.
The text may contain personal or sensitive information, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, identification numbers, payment card numbers, addresses, URLs, or similar details. SafeSend uses this text only to create a redacted result for the user.
Information SafeSend collects
SafeSend does not collect user text or redacted content. SafeSend does not operate a server that receives extension text, and it does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking in the extension.
Chrome storage
SafeSend uses Chrome storage only to save user preferences, such as selected redaction categories, replacement style, the heuristics-only preference, and whether inline text-box controls are shown. These settings stay in the user's browser or Chrome sync storage, depending on the user's Chrome settings.
Website access and inline controls
SafeSend requests access to HTTP and HTTPS pages so it can identify eligible editable text fields and display a user-invoked SafeSend control. The extension excludes password, email, payment, login, and similar sensitive form fields from this control.
While inline controls are enabled, SafeSend checks text in eligible editors locally as the user types or pastes so the control can signal that redactable information was detected. It does not collect page URLs, browsing history, page content, or editor text, and it does not transmit this information to a server. Users can disable inline controls in the extension popup.
Clipboard use
SafeSend uses clipboard write permission only when the user chooses to copy redacted text. The extension does not read clipboard contents.
Remote code and third parties
The SafeSend extension package includes its JavaScript, WASM runtime files, tokenizer files, and local model assets. The extension is configured for local model loading and does not load remote code.
SafeSend does not sell or transfer user data to third parties. SafeSend does not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to its single purpose. SafeSend does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Changes to this policy
If SafeSend changes how it handles user data, this policy will be updated before the updated extension is published.
